If competition and entrepreneurship are to be promoted, dairy policy must take more liberal forms, the German Farmers Association (DBV) has told senior EU politicians.
This is the mantra of a letter addressed to national and pan-European bureaucrats in charge of dairy policy.
The DBV has said that unilateral, anti-competitive regulations will burden farmers and add more costs to the executive.
They also warned against quota impositions and rules around manure storage.
Instead, German farmers expect a policy to encourage young businesses, drive growth and strengthen product orientation to the market.
