The Agriculture Department says in its annual acreage report that North Dakota’s staple spring wheat crop totals 6.3 million acres, up 1 percent from a year ago.
The state’s durum wheat crop is estimated at 1.1 million acres, up 31 percent.
Farmers also planted more barley, oats, sugar beets and potatoes.
There is a drop in soybeans, safflower, dry beans and alfalfa hay.
Corn is unchanged.
