The growth in the world’s population and economies has led to the world to need more food, which puts the agriculture industry in a good place, according to Lowell Catlett, regents professor at New Mexico State University.
“The world’s population has grown immensely since 1970 and the world’s wealth has too. The first thing people do when they have money is buy more protein. With these increases we will need to increase meat output by 50 percent by 2050,” said Catlett, at the Wyffels Corn Strategies even near Perry, Iowa, on July 8.
The increases of these size will mean more grain will need produced to be able to help feed the increased number of livestock that will need to be fed.
